Families for ED Advertising Decency Act
Like the rest of us, Rep. Jim Moran has apparently had enough of seeing Viagra adds during sporting events and prime-time television shows. Unlike the rest of us, Rep. Moran is a member of the Congress and has created legislation that would label the advertisements as indecent and relegate them to between the hours of 10 pm to 6 am.
The 10 pm-6 am time frame is what the Federal Communications Commission calls “safe harbor” and is essentially the same as “international waters” in that you can put whatever you want on without fear of repercussions from the commission. If successful, the new law would remove ads for companies like Viagra, Cialis and the horde of other pills no prescribed to treat ED to safe harbor hours.
There is no word on how this would affect Viagra advertisements inside stadiums and other sporting venues around the country. Perhaps that’s in the bill and I just couldn’t find it. Read the proposed law for yourself, below.
