Study Shows Same-Sex Couples in Mass. Spent $111M on Weddings
Proponents of same-sex marriage can count another victory for their cause today. A study released by the Williams Institute at UCLA found that gay couples spent a total of $111 million on marriages and assorted marriage necessities since the state legalized same-sex marriages in 2004.
The study found the average gay couple spent $5,000 on their nuptials, which is certainly not something many people can argue is a bad thing given the current state of the economy. The study is expected to add more fuel to the fire of the debate about legalizing gay marriage throughout the country, especially in light of New Hampshire’s governor refusing to sign the same-sex marriage bill approved by the state’s Congress.
