Swine Flu Map
The world — with special emphasis on Mexico, New York City and Los Angeles — seems to be in a collective fit about the spread of the so-called swine flu.
Officials in Mexico have canceled school for all grades through at least May 6 and the United States agency Centers for Disease Control have officially raised their level of worry. Once thought to be relegated to Mexico and states nearby the flu is beginning to leave its mark on the US and in other countries. Reported incidence of swine flu have been especially numerous in new York City, where officials believe close to 100 students may have been infected.
The current death toll in Mexico has reached 149 and it is believed that more than 1,000 people are infected. No official numbers have been released to substantiate that claim, but doctors and state health agencies are being extra careful. The World Health Organization even raised the panic alert level about swine flu to level 4, meaning there is serious threat of spread between multiple continents.
Some reports have stated that swine flu is being diagnosed in places as far away as New Zealand. The map below details the current places swine flu has been found throughout the world.
