Detroit Lions New Logo
President Obama said it was time for change and apparently the beleaguered Detroit Lions listened. The Lions, who have been professional football’s version of the Washington Generals (the team that habitually loses to the Harlem Globetrotters) since Barry Sanders retired, changed their Logo to the not-quite-that-dissimilar Lion you see in the document below.
The year 2008 proved to be a real time for change in Detroit when the Lions became the first team to ever go 0-16 in the National Football League. The Lions have two first round picks in the 2009 draft and a few extra picks in successive rounds that should really help the team at least look different.
General Manager Matt Millen was also relieved of his duties in Detroit, a change Lions fans have been screaming for seemingly forever. Millen was responsible for selecting Oregon QB Joey Harrington who turned out to be a dud and wide receivers with top-10 picks three times during his short tenure. One might think that with all the changes upcoming for the Detroit Lions it would suit them to completely overhaul their mascot — maybe even have a real lion on the field — but it appears the good people in Detroit decided that change must come slowly.
The new logo has not been officially released by the team or the NFL, but has already been seen on team freight carriers.
