Pinworms

Health

Am glad I am not an active nail biter now and that when I was one I never got worms. Yes, nailbiting can lead to worms such as pinworms. The number and type of worms that the human digestive tract is susceptible to is big. Roundworms, pinworms, threadworms, tapeworms (pork and beef), hookworms and whipworms are just the common ones.

Pinworms do not cause serious damage, just some itching and a crawling sensation. The pinworm lives in the lower part of the small intestine and the upper part of the colon. Pinworms cause enterobiosis, a very common infection found in humans.
