Biotech company Dendreon saw a surge in its share prices after it announced that its prostate cancer vaccine Provenge appears to cut the risk of death compared with a placebo. The shares shot up by 65% to $8.58, which is good news in the present gloomy scenario in the US. Provenge (sipuleucel-T) consists of autologous (reimplanted) dendritic cells complexed with the PAP antigen and GM-CSF. The company does not expect an early approval of the experimental cancer medicine.
