Exchange Traded Funds
What are exchange traded funds? Exchange traded funds or ETFs represent shares of ownership in either fund, unit investment trusts, or depository receipts that hold portfolios of common stocks which closely track the performance and dividend yield of specific indexes, either broad market, sector or international. Most investors can buy and sell ETF shares only in market transactions, but institutional investors can redeem large blocks of shares of the ETF (known as “creation units”) for a “basket” of the underlying assets or, alternatively, exchange the underlying assets for creation units.
