Erin Popovich is an Olympic swimming champion with a difference; this 14 times gold medal winner for the US is a winner at 3 paralympics. Her latest gold medal winning efforts have come at Beijing 2008 where she has won 4 golds and 2 silvers while creating world records in the 200m individual medley and 100m breaststroke. Popovich was born in 1985 and at birth she was diagnosed with achondroplasia, restricting the growth of her limbs. Growing up, she underwent around a dozen surgeries and yet by the age of 15 she competed in the 2000 paralympics.
