Eric McLean took to the witness stand in Knox County Criminal Court Tuesday to defend himself on charges he plotted to kill 18-year-old Sean Powell, with whom McLean’s wife launched an affair after meeting the teenager in an English class at West High School where she was serving as a student teacher. During hours of testimony, McLean sought to show jurors that he never intended to kill Powell and instead grabbed a high-powered rifle in a bid to force the teenager to leave his home for fear his wife, Erin McLean, was about to leave him and take their two young sons to live with Powell. McClean was founnd not guilty in 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, and guilty for reckless homicide.
