The Camel Spider belongs to the order Solifugae and class Arachnida. The order Solifugae consists of about a 1,000 species. The camel spider is also known as the wind scorpion, sun scorpion and sun spider.

Camel spiders are found in all desert areas except the deserts of Australia. Camel spiders are equipped with powerful pincers; these animals are omnivorous and feed mainly on beetles, termites, and small arthropods. Males are usually smaller than females and have longer legs. Both sexes are capable of inflicting powerful bites on humans. Reproduction involves either direct or indirect sperm transfer.
