Calabasas Fire
A brush fire near the edge of Malibu Creek State Park scorched more than 10 acres today, Tuesday, August 26, 2008, sending thick plumes of smoke over the area and marching slowly toward some Calabasas neighborhoods. The fire, which was reported at 12:05 p.m., broke out near the intersection of Las Virgenes and Lost Hills roads, said Sam Padilla of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The eastbound Ventura (101) Freeway has been restricted to one lane of traffic only. The California Highway Patrol shut down the Liberty Canyon Road offramps. There is no mandatory evacuation order in effect at this time.
