Photosynth
PhotoSynth is Microsoft’s 3-D photo stitching service that enables users to create navigable, three-dimensional visual “tours” by stitching together digital photos to recreate scenes that can be shared online.
The idea of creating a 3-D image using an array of images of a particular spot or object is indeed a neat one. I don’t know for how long this idea has been around but it has succeeded in generating a fair amount of buzz. This new release by Microsoft will also tax the photographer’s skills and creativity as one will have to ensure that photos are taken such that they “Synth” seamlessley into one another. Microsoft aims to integrate this service with MSN and Virtual Earth.
