Robert Wadlow
Robert Wadlow holds the distinction of being the tallest verified man to have ever lived. Wadlow had a brief life, he was born in 1918 at Alton in Illinois and died in 1940 from a blister caused by a faulty brace. The blister led to an infection which caused his death at the age of 22 years. Wadlow was 8′11.1′ tall and weighed 220 kg at the time of his death.
Wadlow had a hyperactive pituitary gland that led to uncontrolled growth well into adulthood. He was still growing at the time of his sad demise. By the age of 19 Wadlow had exceeded all previously recorded human heights.
