Spain Swimsuit Controversy
Spain synchronized swimmers had swimsuits specially designed with water-proof lights embedded in the sequence - but their design has gotten them banned. According to the swimmer’s rules, swimsuits are obligated to have sequins but the lights Spain’s synchronized swimmers used are being considered an “accessory” according to the international swimming federation FINA. That means they likely will not be allowed to use the illuminated swimsuits. The Spaniards are favored to win a medal in the event. The duet team of Andrea Fuentes and Gemma Mengual of Spain perform the duet technical routine in synchronized swimming during the Beijing 2008 Olympics.
