Carolyn Warmus is serving a 25-year sentence for the murder of her lover’s wife.Warmus was indicted on the charge of second-degree murder on February 2, 1990. Twelve days after the prosecutor and defense gave their closing statements, the jury announced they were hopelessly deadlocked at 8-4 in favor of conviction and unable to arrive at a unanimous verdict. The judge was forced to declare a mistrial on April 27, 1991. In January 1992, a second trial began. At the end of this trial, the jury took just six days to decide Warmus was guilty on June 26, 1992. Warmus faced a minimum of 15 years. But Judge Carey sentenced her to the maximum, 25 years to life in prison.
